Te Poari Governance

Ngā Taonga is governed by a Board of Trustees made up of seven members whose skills reflect archival, screen and audio industry experience, and knowledge of tikanga.

Emily Loughnan

Co-chair

Ngā Taonga Board of Trustees Co-chair Emily Loughnan

Emily is the co-founder of Click Suite, a company specialising in developing interactive exhibitions as well as websites and apps.

Prior to forming Click Suite, Emily had a very successful television career including leading large and complex projects for TVNZ and NZ On Air where she commissioned $50m of television programmes annually. Emily has been a pioneer in the interactive industry and was appointed to the Prime Minister’s Growth and Innovation Advisory Board.

Emily is passionate about new technology and is a popular speaker on the subject at various events.

Lynell Tuffery Huria

Co-chair

Ngā Taonga Board of Trustees Co-chair Lynell Tuffery Huria

Lynell Tuffery Huria (Ngāti Ruanui, Ngā Ruahine) is an experienced intellectual property lawyer who assists Māori in navigating the intellectual property system and the protection of taonga and mātauranga Māori.

Lynell was a member of the organising committee for the Ngā Taonga Tuku Iho Conference held in Whakatū (Nelson) in 2016, and is currently chair of the Indigenous Rights Committee for the International Trade Mark Association.

Lynell and her husband also own a foundation construction business in Te Whanganui-a-Tara and have three mokopuna.

Lewis Holden

Ngā Taonga Board of Trustees member Lewis Holden

Lewis Holden is an independent analyst and director who was Chief Executive of Manatū Taonga, the Ministry for Culture and Heritage from 2009 to 2015.

Lewis has held senior policy and leadership roles in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, the Treasury, the State Services Commission and the Ministry of Economic Development. Over the course of his public service career, Lewis had extensive experience with numerous boards, particularly in the cultural sector, as both a member and advisor.

Lewis represented New Zealand as Alternate Executive Director on the Boards of the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation in Washington D.C. He is currently a member of the Board of Reconnect Family Services and the Reconnect Trust. Reconnect is based in South Auckland and offers care and protection for at risk young people seeking to reconnect with whanau, education and employment.

As well as post graduate qualifications from Victoria University and the University of Canterbury, he has a Masters of Public and Private Management from Yale University in the USA. Lewis is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors and attained Chartered Membership status with the IoD in February 2022.

Lewis lives on Waiheke Island and in 2021 was appointed to the Board of the Waiheke Community Art Gallery.

Jock Phillips

Ngā Taonga Board of Trustees member Jock Phillips

Jock Phillips is a freelance professional historian. Until 2014 he was the General Editor of Te Ara, the Online Encyclopedia of New Zealand in the Ministry for Culture and Heritage. He was previously New Zealand’s Chief Historian following 16 years teaching American and New Zealand History at Victoria University of Wellington. He was also the founding Director of the Stout Research Centre for the study of New Zealand society, history and culture; and was the Conceptual Leader for the History exhibitions at Te Papa, Museum of New Zealand.

He has published 15 books on New Zealand history, of which the best known is A Man’s Country? The Image of the Pakeha Male – A History. His latest book, To the Memory, is a comprehensive illustrated history of New Zealand war memorials.

Jock is also a Guardian of the Alexander Turnbull Library.

Amit Prasad

Ngā Taonga Board of Trustees member Amit Prasad

Amit Prasad is very passionate about helping contribute towards building a brighter future of our nation and is a keen advocate of diversity and inclusion. He is always keen to add diversity of thought perspective, ethnicity, age and varied experience to the strategy dialogue.

Amit is a Chartered Accountant of Australia and New Zealand and Fellow Certified Practicing Accountant. He has broad experience in all aspects of accounting, audit, financial and risk management with more than 20 years professional work experience in various sectors.

Amit has held multiple governance roles over the years and is currently involved in roles within the Not-For-Profit sector, Central and Local Government Organisations.

Koroninia Dickinson

Koroninia Dickinson (Ngāti Kahungunu ki te Wairoa and Ngāi Tahu) is an executive producer, government relations expert, former diplomat and NZ triathlete.

He is the Chief Executive of Poutama Trust, a Māori Charitable Trust that supports Māori businesses across Aotearoa. Koroninia is also a member of The Institute of Directors NZ, and an Executive Producer of a television and film production company, The KOHA Project Ltd.

Previously, he was an Executive Officer at Auckland Council. Here he also led Auckland’s international relations work as the Head of Global Partnerships, as well as council’s external partnerships as the Head of Strategic Partnerships.

As a diplomat, he worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade based in Wellington, Australia and Canada. He lives with his whānau in Maungakiekie/One Tree Hill.

The Board of Trustees welcomes Expressions of Interest from people interested in serving as Trustees of Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision.

To register your interest please submit a covering letter outlining the reasons for putting yourself forward for nomination, your relevant experience and skills, and any other information you feel appropriate to the role or in support of your nomination.

In particular, the following skills are explicitly sought:

  • governance experience;
  • knowledge of tikanga;
  • financial expertise;
  • archival expertise;
  • screen, audio and / or radio industry expertise;
  • IT skills;
  • fundraising skills; and
  • legal expertise.
