Dr Areti Metuamate

Dr Areti Metuamate (Ngati Kauwhata, Ngati Raukawa ki te Tonga, Ngati Haua) is Chief Executive of Te Kupenga and has worked in universities and in the public service in both Aotearoa and Australia. Dr Metuamate is a member of a number of boards in the education and health sectors, where he has a specific focus on equity for Indigenous peoples. He is a Trustee of the Raukawa ki te Tonga Trust and is also of Cook Islands (Mangaian) descent. Dr Metuamate and his wife (an Aboriginal scholar and artist) are collectors of Indigenous art and advocates for the preservation of Indigenous heritage taonga.
