Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision is New Zealand’s audiovisual archive. We save and cherish the stories, creativity and history of Aotearoa New Zealand in sound and moving images.
We are looking for a permanent, full time Client Experience and Discovery Manager - Poutaki Tūhura, Ratonga Tangata based in our Wellington office, who will enjoy managing and training the Client Access Liaison team and working collaboratively to ensure that research, rights clearance and cataloguing services, in addition to internal and third party access to all parts of the collection is consistent, straightforward, in line with archival principles, kaupapa-centred in its practices and with a strong customer service ethos.
This is a newly developed position that recognises our increased emphasis on making the collections we care for more accessible and discoverable. Reporting directly to the Group Manager, Information Services, and working closely with another Client Experience and Discovery Manager, you will be responsible for managing the research and cataloguing aspect of Ngā Taonga collections, both on and off-site; including the online catalogue; in addition to the management and discovery of all rights information pertaining to the collections.
You’ll be an experienced people manager with experience in customer service, databases, rights management and an understanding of archival ethos, practice and standards. You’ll also be adaptable and versatile with a can-do attitude.
You will need to have a strong respect for Māori tikanga and te reo Māori.
What are we looking for?
  • Three or more years’ people management experience,
  • Three or more years’ collection database experience
  • Five or more years’ experience, managing client/customer service function
  • An understanding of archival ethos, practice and standards,
  • Experience in building and managing stakeholder relationships,
  • Knowledge of rights management,
  • A commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and supportive of both Māori and Pakehā perspectives, language and aspirations,
  • A high level of personal motivation, initiative and adaptability, and
  • The ability to think innovatively and as part of a team.

Salary range $68,854 - $86,067
