Ngā Taonga is the audiovisual archive for Aotearoa New Zealand. We’re a Charitable Trust committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and being a kaupapa-centered organisation that recognises that there are multiple world views. The 70+ staff who work for us are passionate about caring for and sharing the precious taonga in the collections and their role in ensuring all New Zealanders, including future generations, will be able to know their history and connect with their cultural identity. 

This is an incredibly exciting time to join Ngā Taonga as we’re currently undertaking some significant multi-agency projects. An integral part of this journey is the role of HR Advisor/Senior HR Advisor.

The Role

We are looking for a HR Advisor or Senior HR Advisor to join our HR Team which is part of the Archive’s Organisational Performance Group. This role is part of a small team and has broad responsibilities. The HR Advisor or Senior HR Advisor will make an active contribution to all areas of the HR work at Ngā Taonga, including cutting edge projects, business partnering, employment relations, and BAU support across the employee lifecycle. Whatever level you are at, this is a growth role, where you will be given the support you need to enhance your skillset.

You will

  • Have mature and developed interpersonal skills.
  • Use your advanced coordination and advisory skills, coupled with your HR knowledge, to keep us moving in the right direction.
  • As an Advisor, have 1-2 years’ experience in HR, Payroll, Communications, and a passion for all things people and culture related.
  • As a Senior Advisor, have 2-3 years experience in HR, proven generalist knowledge, and a desire to build innovative solutions.
  • Show a strong respect for Māori tikanga and the use of te reo Māori.
  • Champion wellbeing, inclusion, and equity practices.
  • Be a problem solver who is not afraid to get stuck into a problem and work through it in a logical and considered way.
  • Exhibit strong self-awareness and resilience.
  • Be an expert collaborator who can quickly build rapport with all people, including those with different communication preferences to your own.

Salary range: Advisor $66,098 - $73,833
Senior Advisor $77,701 - $86,794
