Audio Curios: A Song for All Seasons

Elsa Davis chronicles events in songs. In 1982 she was recorded by Alwyn Owen for Spectrum singing her famous “Phar Lap” song. The programme also featured a royal lullaby, and a song about New Zealand’s tourist attractions (composed in ten minutes).

Elsa’s singing featured in Jack Perkins’ last Spectrum programme, where he looked back over his 43 year career with fellow producer Alwyn Owen (Spectrum, 30 August 2015, Radio New Zealand National):
