Access Points
Are you interested in viewing or listening to items from the archive? A number of items from the collection can be accessed by visiting one of our branches. Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision also maintains a medianet digital access network and a Travelling Film Show, which enable access to sets of material from the collection more widely across New Zealand.

Wellington | Te Whanganui-a-Tara
Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision’s head office is based in Wellington. This is where the majority of our moving image archiving takes place; some sound archiving happens here as well. Also in Wellington, use our viewing and research libraries.

Christchurch | Ōtautahi
The Christchurch branch is where the majority of our sound archiving happens. Visits to the Christchurch branch are by appointment only, as audio recordings take time to source and prepare for listening.

Avalon | Motutawa
The Television New Zealand Collection is housed at Avalon, Lower Hutt. The Avalon branch is primarily a preservation facility; visits are only by special arrangement. Learn more
Motutawa is the Māori name for the area where the Avalon Studios buildings and surroundings are.

Medianet | Te Kupenga Kōnae
The medianet digital video resource allows you to watch moving images from our collection for free, through a network of host libraries, museums and educational institutions nationwide.

Travelling Film Show | He Tira Kiriata
The Travelling Film Show tours compilation programmes from the collection to cities, towns and remote country areas nationwide. Contact us to discuss the possibility of organising a Travelling Film Show in your community.
