Travelling Film Show

The Travelling Film Show tours compilation programmes from Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision’s collection to cities, towns, and remote country areas nationwide.

Reel Life in Rural New Zealand screening at Maraekakaho Woolshed

These tours bring moving image and audio items back to the places where they were made, and share them with people who have a connection with the personalities and places featured in the recordings.

Each screening is a unique community experience for all generations, and a great way of learning more about the audiovisual history of our country and its regions.

Hosts can choose to screen one of Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision’s existing programmes, or ask to have a new programme curated that is tailored to a specific region or theme.

Te Waipounamu Marae Film Tour visits Arai te Uru Marae, Dunedin

Content ranges from feature films, television shows, and documentaries, to theme-based compilations (such as Aunt Daisy and the Dancing Cossacks – NZ Ads through HistoryReel Life in Canterbury, Fashion on Film, Design and Architecture, and All About Christmas). The compilations of short films are very popular, and include clips from newsreels, animation, drama, advertising, and home movies.
