000:31 OPUNAKE - Carnival Day
002:41 Brian Vincent - Opunake Motor Camp Proprietor
An insight into the life of many of Opunake and the districts farming community who annually return to the Opunake Motor Camp for their holiday by the beach. With many being regular campers its an opportunity to spend time with friends and family and to simply enjoy the atmosphere. BBQs are great, the kids have a great time and there are scenes of the 3rd Annual Opunake Carnival Day held on the beach which is packed with fun, excitement, organised events and people enjoying the relaxed atmosphere.
For farmers of the district, it’s normal routine to be up in the early hours of the morning, leave camp, go home to milk, return and leave again at five in the afternoon for the second round. For local business proprietors, it’s not unusual to close up shop early if it’s hot and go off to the beach, to play golf or whatever. It’s all part of Opunake’s community spirit.
