The Christchurch festival was a highlight of the year. The Actors’ Touring Company feature at the Christchurch Arts Festival, performing Shakespeare outdoors. Polyphony and Stiff Glue sing in the streets. Warwick Franklin and Lorraine Eggers talk about ‘The Non Ski Club’. A yoga lesson is given by Martyn Jackson, Yoga Instructor.

Allanah James gives a report on Alcoholism in Christchurch, when a family with an alcoholic father is portrayed. Lynne Briggs, Social Worker, speaks about couples and alcoholism.

In ‘City Morgue, Reporter Michael Brown’ the story is told about the city’s original morgue. The building is thought to be haunted, and smoke has been seen coming from it although the building has been locked up for years. Constable Bernie Quinn explains it is just condensation coming from the chimney. The building is now demolished.

Bill Cockram talks about an application for a mausoleum in the Christchurch cemetery. Timaru City Council had to take action on non-standard burials: an antiques dealer uses legs coming out of a coffin to advertise for goods. A Kenny Rodgers concert is reported on by Maree Mahony. Rodgers says he plays tennis in each town he travels to.

At QEII Park, the world Master’s swimming is reported on by Christine Negus. Prof. Cliff Stevenson, Organising Committee, talks about the organisation of the games. Dr John Gillies, Chest Specialist, talks about the health aspects of swimming. Martha Keller, 83 year old Swimmer, is here from overseas, to partake in the games.

The relatives of the Canterbury competitors at the Olympics were invited into the studio to send messages to their family members in L.A. Kevin Barry is sent a message from daughter, Casey Barry. Pachamama sings ‘Mother Nature’.
