Local Body Elections
If you cant be bothered, are not interested or are blissfully unaware then welcome to the majority. In most centres barely twenty five percent of you have voted in the local body elections, far lower than previous years. The polls close Saturday so tomorrow's the deadline for posting in your ballot thats if you can find it or havent already binned it. So in the face of overwhelming disinterest we decided to engage some of the most creative minds in the country to see if they could "zhush up" our local body elections. Also we hear from Invercargill's mayor Tim Shadbolt and Manukau mayoral candidate Willie Jackson.
Spirit of Adventure
The 2007 Nobel Peace prize is due to be announced this Friday in Oslo and this year theres a kiwi connection amongst contenders for the prize. For over 30 years the Spirit of New Zealand has been taking groups of teenagers to sea on team building adventures and the charity that runs it all , Sail Training International has been nominated for the award. In terms of accolades they don't get much bigger. But what does a sailing ship have to do with the Noble Peace prize? And what is it about a week or so on the briny that seems to benefit teenagers so much? We joined latest intake of trainees to find out. John Sellwood on the Hauraki Gulf."
