Drivers at Auckland's Yellow Bus Company are holding a 48-hour strike.
The strike began at midnight, and is a protest against major pay cuts
and the failure of their employment contract negotiations. At least 16
striking bus drivers have been arrested for disorderly behaviour, after
some pelted strike-breakers with eggs and paint. Live material from
reporters Nick Hirst and Kim Hill, Bob Masefield of the Tramways Union,
Chris McDonald of the Engineers' Union, and Bruce Jesson of the Auckland
Regional Services Trust.
