War Correspondent Quentin Reynolds continues his talk about the battle
of Sidi Omar that commenced at noon on the 25 November 1944.

A patrol of Indian Sikhs and Southern county troops went out at dusk to
pick up prisoners and to mop up enemy patrols. The German tanks had
withdrawn and the defence force at Sidi Omar went to sleep in slit
trenches. These trenches had been dug by the Italians prior to the
allied occupation.

at 4.40am Wednesday the roar of enemy aircraft woke the soldiers
sleeping in the trenches.
