New Zealand. Army. Expeditionary Force, 2nd

This is the story of a detachment of New Zealand Signalmen who
participated in the first Libyan campaign.

Seven officers and 130 other ranks from NZ Divisional Signals left the
NZ Division on the 9 June 1940, supplemented by men from the English and
Indian armies, to take up duties providing signals communication for the
military force forming in the Western Desert.

This was an event in the history of the NZ Corps of Signals as the birth
of the Royal Signals Unit took place with its personnel consisting
mainly of New Zealanders.

During the early stages the detachment did work similar to that carried
out in NZ by the Post Office.

The speaker goes on to describe the work of the various sections
operating within the detachment.
