Part 1: NATO Commander of an air base in Holland near Willensaven. He talks about his relationship with Kapitan Timms of the Federal German Navy who was very complimentary about New Zealand and told him of his previous trip in his U Boat. The crew had seen Napier and some crew came ashore to Bay of Plenty, and crawled up the coast, and confirmed that they didn’t sink any New Zealand ships, having few torpedoes left. Hughes talks about being President of the Anglo-German society who were to welcome German servicemen into NATO.
