A two part documentary.
The Blyth track leading down the slopes of Mount Ruapehu towards Ohakune was begun in the 1920s by Joe Blyth (Thomas Arthur Blyth), and was continued by his son Jack. The nine mile track opened up the South side of Ruapehu.
In this two-part documentary, Jack Blyth recalls the making of the track. He also speaks about the influence it and Mount Ruapehu, had on their lives.
Joe Blyth was headmaster of Ohakune School from 1909, but after service in the First World War, and the death of his wife, he devoted all his spare time to the track.
