Corporal T.G. Bain, continues to talk about his experiences from leaving Egypt through to evacuation from Greece to Crete by the Navy. On the 20 April, Hitler's birthday, a lone plane dived out of the sky and let a stick of bombs go and a second plane dropped a bomb very close. The first was obviously a spotter and we expected the return of bombers. Trenches were started to be dug in a hurry however before they were finished an air raid came which was followed at lunch time by a massive bomb attack lasting thirty minutes. Fifty bomb craters were counted in the open area but not one man was hurt.
