Alan Dunford describes the air pageant which was opened by Prime Minister Rt. Hon Walter Nash. A large crowd has gathered to watch displays by Royal New Zealand Airforce aircraft, including Vampire jets, Harvards, Canberras, Devons, and a Bristol freighter.
Pageant commentator Flight Lieutenant Pickersgill [?] is heard describing the manoeuvres being performed.
Three helicopters from the aircraft carrier HMS Albion are also taking part along with Sky Raider aircraft. Sound effects of a Vampire jet flying past the airfield and performing a roll.
