A letter from a rangatira was produced for the Overseas Programme Exchange Service by Elsie Locke.

In this talk Beverly Wakem introduces a recently discovered letter from a Māori Rangatira - a chief, to the New Zealand Government, explaining why the Māori people found it necessary to set up their own King, when they had already accepted the sovereignty of Queen Victoria of England, under the Treaty of Waitangi. The letter was written by Chief Renata Kawepo Tamiki Hikurangi.
