He came from a working-class background, and as a Mexican-American, he has faced a lot of prejudice throughout his life. He talks about his early days working in bars, and mentions that he often still sings in Spanish. He talks about country music and the interest in New Zealand in this music. For relaxation, he likes to ride motorbikes, He owns a Harley Davidson, a 1948 Indian bike, and a Pontiac. Recorded in the 1980s.
