A compilation of various oral histories and stories.

Cave publican Ted Finney of the "Cave Arms" tells Jim Sullivan anecdotes about the South Canterbury train, the Fairlie Flyer, and the patronage at the Cave pub when the train was shunted. The interview was recorded during the compiling of a documentary about the Fairlie Flyer at the time of its demise.

Lieutenant DC Lowe, an assistant medical officer, gives an account of an outbreak of influenza on the New Zealand transport ‘Tahiti’ which left Wellington on 10 July, 1918.

Ted Finney talks about transporting beer on the train, and how Cave has changed in the time he has lived there.

A Mr Knight is asked about the 1918 flu epidemic and recalls how people were treated with sprays and mass fumigation.

An unidentified speaker gives a speech in Christchurch at a celebration of the city’s 100th anniversary, possibly on 10 June 1968. He talks about the importance of preparing young people for their future and says young people need responsibility and encouragement. He talks about the nature of anniversaries and the responsibility of citizens for to maintain long term development and civic pride in their city.

Cecil Herbert Andrew records an oral account of watching James William Humphrey Scotland’s pioneer flight over Temuka from Timaru to Christchurch on 6 March 1914. He describes a package of postcard photos of the plane and a letter from Scotland that was addressed to Andrew’s family. Recorded on 20 Nov 1967.
