Ohlson, Olly, 1944-

Te Hata Ohlson is probably best known as the guitar playing Olly Ohlson who fronted the TV programmes "After School" and "You and Your Child". But this has only been a small part of an eventful life. These days he, with his wife Jan, is busy counselling and teaching, particularly those who have come in conflict with the Justice system. He has developed what he calls Mauri psychology, based on the Māori belief in Mauri - the energy of life force. Te Hata uses both Māori spiritual beliefs and modern psychological skills in his work. He is the youngest of 19 children, was abused as a child and Māori was the only language spoken at home. He
