Paakiwaha is a weekly two-hour current affairs programme broadcast on Monday mornings on Radio Waatea. Delivered in English, it covers current issues from a Māori perspective. It has been broadcasting since 2002. Paakiwaha is funded by New Zealand On Air and is provided to various Community/Access stations and other broadcasters. In today’s programme:

1. Maori Lawyer Moana Jackson: responds to comments made from Professor Paul Moon on Maori Sovereignty and He Wakaputanga Document

2. AUT Professor Paul Moon: he says the Waitangi Tribunal could have made a stronger case for the sovereignty issue had they got their evidence right.

3. Ngati Hine spokesperson Pita Tipene on the Waitangi Tribunal Report on Te Paparahi O Te Raki and where Ngati Hine are at the moment.

4. Dr Monty Soutar: the sounds of haka rang out on Saturday to herald the opening of the C Company 28 Maori Battalion Museum.

5. Nanaia Mahuta talks to Dale Husband about the Labour Party leadership race.

6. Labour MP Phil Twyford: the government has been accused of using Housing NZ as a cash cow by talking higher dividends. Labour says this is an asset sale.

7. Kapa Haka expert Tihi Puanaki talks about the risks associated with tertiary institutes like WITT and Awanuiarangi running performing arts courses. And an update on the build up to Te Matatini 2015
