An Insight documentary looking at Māori land claims and moves to preserve the Māori language

Eva Rickard is interviewed via telephone about the fight for the land of the Raglan Golf Course, and her plans for establishing a wananga on the site if the land is returned to them.

She outlines what the next step will be if the land is not returned. She says the government should be ashamed of the way it has handled the dispute.

Tom Poata talks about the lack of government support over land protests. He says the Raglan dispute could have been settled very simply and refers to the Bastion Point dispute. He says New Zealanders need to learn more about the history of alienation of Māori land.

Eva Rickard talks about Māori land trusts.

Tom Roa, a former teacher of Hillary College who is now working for the kohanga reo movement, talks about te reo Māori and the importance of preserving it and the benefits of being bilingual.

Whai Dewes of Te Reo Māori Society talks about how the language transmits values and a unique world view.

Tom and Whai talk about the benefits learning Māori could bring for Māori students and New Zealand society as a whole.
