Newstalk ZB (Christchurch, N.Z.), Broadcaster

A weekly highlights programme broadcast nationwide on Saturday mornings on Newstalk ZB. Highlights are drawn from the Farming Show – a daily magazine-style programme broadcast 12pm - 1pm. The programme contains interviewees and regular commentators talking about farming and agribusiness in New Zealand. The programme began broadcasting in 1994. In this recording it is preceded by a news and sports bulletin, and weather forecast. The following rundown is sourced from the Farming Show website:

1. Jim Hopkins is a rural raconteur who today shares his well-researched thoughts on the ill-fated Gallipoli campaign, 100 years on from the landings at Anzac Cove.

2. As we build to Anzac day, Dr Andrew West - the Vice Chancellor of Lincoln University - shares his family connections with Gallipoli and the D Day landings.

3. New Zealand First leader Winston Peters puts politics to one side to discuss whether the Great War should have happened and whether Anzac Day should be our national day.

4. Our North Otago correspondent Ele Ludemann comments on the end of the drought in her region and she shares her father’s fascinating war story.

5. Ben Russell, the Aussie-born GM of Rabobank New Zealand talks about the comradeship between our two countries and his family’s connection to Gallipoli.

6. We track down our political correspondent Barry Soper in Istanbul on the eve of his heading to the Gallipoli Peninsula for the 100th Commemorations of the Anzac Landings.
