Spectrum was a long-running weekly radio documentary series which captured the essence of New Zealand from 1972 to 2016. Alwyn Owen and Jack Perkins produced the series for many years, creating a valuable library of New Zealand oral history.

Jack Perkins presents an illustrated look at the state and practice of folk music in New Zealand in 1972. Issues covered include the history and future directions of folk music, regional variations, importance of culture, alienation etc. Those involved in the documentary are from the Wellington Folk Centre, the Kāpiti Folk Club, the Palmerston North Folk Music Club and the Massey Folk Music Club.
