Promotional radio programme for the film "One Hundred Crowded Years" which was produced by the Government Film Studio at Miramar to mark the New Zealand Centennial of 1940.

An unidentified broadcaster interviews "Mr Commentator" who played the role of the commentator in the film.

He explains that it is an epic of New Zealand history, consisting of moments from the first century of New Zealand history under British sovereignty. These start with Edward Gibbon Wakefield and the first colonial settlers, whose peace is 'rudely shattered by the outbreak of the Māori Wars." The "picturesque romantic days of the discovery of gold ' follow.

It is described as the most ambitious project yet attempted by the Government Film Studio.

The first public screening will be at the St James and King's Theatres simultaneously [in Wellington?] and all proceeds from ticket sales go to the National Patriotic Fund.

The film will be shown to schoolchildren at special matinee sessions.
