Programme Number: 65
Subject: Nayer and Nasser Kaviani
Roots: Iran
Producer: Ian Johnston

Nayer is from Shiraz which has a very mild climate, while Nasser comes from a dry part of Iran where rainy days were considered very special - something he found quite different when he came to New Zealand.

They talk about the different roles sport and music play in Iran and New Zealand. They both studied at the same uiversity in Shiraz, where all lectures were in English.

They discuss the ancient culture in Iran, with some buildings dating back over 1,000 years. Nayer remembers ther role of women when she lived in Iran in the 1970s was progressive, with many more women doctors and engineers than she has seen in New Zealand.

They are both of the Ba'hai faith and talk about how that has influenced their lives.
