D SERIES - Christchurch Secondary Schools, Christchurch Girls. This series of 12 broadcasts, narrated by Fred Hyde, features interviews and scripted speeches, with some school music items, as a means to present each of the prominent Christchurch secondary schools to the rest of New Zealand (see Database ID 100554). This episode focuses on Christchurch Girls High School.

In part one, Hyde introduces the programme; and the Head Mistress, Miss Tindell, gives a detailed history of the school.

In part two, Miss Tindell continues describing the school; and Miss Wall talks about the school library.

In part three, Jean Claridge talks about her duties in the library; the school choir performs; and Mrs. Tancard talks about the school's sporting curriculum.

In part four, Mrs. Tancard continues talking about physical education; several girls talk about their respective sporting disciplines; a small choir sings "The Echo Song"; and Jeanette Gainsford talks about her musical prowess at Christchurch Girls High.

In part five, Mrs. MacKillip talks about extra-curricular activities; and the school orchestra performs.

In part six, Miss Lumus talks about the non-academic activities that the school organises for the students; the Head Prefect, Judith Collins, talks about her interests, her role as Head Prefect, and the house system; and Leslie Cusden talks about the boarding house.

In part seven, Leslie Cusdon continues talking about Acland House; the choir performs; and two American students offer their impressions of the school; and R. B. Anderson talks about CGHS Old Girls.

In part eight, Anderson continues listing successful Old Girls; and the choir performs a lullaby.
