The one-hour recording begins with the 4pm news and mountain forecast read by Chris Whitta and a preview of programmes by the host of 4 to 8, Katrina Batten.
07'15" Katrina introduces the third of the Brainstorm series recorded by Kim Hill and produced by Eva Radich at the Cheltenham Science Festival in Britain.

Programme 3: What are quarks and how can you see them at the heart of the subatomic world? And what does quantum mechanics have to do with the mystery and origins of life?
Kim talks to Frank Close, OBE, Professor of Physics at the University of Oxford and former professor of astronomy at Gresham College, London, and to Johnjoe McFadden, Professor of Molecular Genetics at the University of Surrey. His science book, ‘Quantum Evolution’ explores the role of quantum mechanics in life, evolution and consciousness.
