The recording begins with the 11am news bulletin read by Stuart Keith. Host Chris Laidlaw then interviews retiring Green co-leader, Jeanette Fitzsimons in the "Ideas" segment of his programme.

Jeanette Fitzsimons retired from Parliament this week after 13 years – as an Alliance and then Green MP.
Despite having never sat on the Government benches there would be few if any commentators who would question Jeanette Fitzsimons profound impact on New Zealand politics.
As the co-leader of the Green Party from 1995 to 2005 she was instrumental in raising the environment towards the top of the political agenda.
Today in "Ideas" we hear about the people, writers and thinkers who have influenced Jeanette Fitzsimons. They include: economist Herman Daly, Ghandi, the founding editor of the ecologist magazine Teddy Goldsmith, charismatic German Green leader Petra Kelly, and her father.
