This tape features nine items all of which are sports related. They are:

1) Jackie Stewart, a racing car driver, is interviewed about his winning 27 grande prixs, his achievements and goal setting to get to this point. He talks of his love for racing and driving in general. Recorded in August 1973, ex BBC. Dur: 1'25".

2) Gordon Banks, a retiring former English footballer and goalkeeper, talks about his decision to retire after suffering from an eye injury in a car accident. He reflects on 1966 and the winning of the World Cup. Recorded 19/08/73, ex BBC. Dur: 2'44".

3) Bobbie Charlton, a former team-mate and footballer with Gordon Banks, talks about him on his retirement. A dedicated player who will be sadly missed by all. Recalls one of his great games in Mexico. Recorded 19/08/73, ex BBC. Dur: 1'55".

4) Colin Milburn, an English cricketer, talks about his eye injury and subsequent false eye. He humorously talks about how his eye kept falling out whilst he was playing and especially running between the wickets. He ended up taking his eye out which he thinks put people off! Has had a new one fitted and it has only just fallen out whilst playing. Would like to get back to his pre-injury form. Recorded in 1973, ex BBC. Dur: 1'58".

5) Virginia Wade, Captain of the English lawn tennis team, talks about her team going the the United States to perform in the Whiteman Cup to try and regain the trophy for England. Feels they won't be disgraced if they lose but it is the 50th anniversary of the cup and will
be presented by Mrs. Whiteman, who is still living. Recording date unknown. Dur: 2'27".

6) Bobby Moore, an English footballer, talks about his views on retirement, World Cup soccer in general and how it is dominated by the European teams. Recorded 26/08/73. Dur: 1'40".

7) David Hemery, an English athlete and gold medalist at Mexico, and Sandy Duncan from the Olympic and Commonwealth Association, talk about athletes performing for their country versus and/or themselves. The general thought is that nationalism is declining and that your best competitions come through travelling as there isn't enough at home. Financial concerns definitely play a part. Recorded 26/08/73, ex BBC. Dur: 3'01".

8) Bevan Congdon, a New Zealand cricketer, comments on the recent tour of England and how you cannot judge by tests and outcome alone but rather by actual performance. Even though NZ lost 2 - 0 the performance was very good. Talks about Glenn Turner's games and the placement of batsmen at the beginning of each innings with certain bowlers. Talks briefly about his own form and performance during the recent test. Recorded in August 1973. Dur: 12'07".

9) Paul Wade interviews Kenyan athlete Ben Jipcho, about his training and fitting that around his work as a prison officer. He talks about his form for the up and coming Commonwealth Games and the steeplechase. His time for this is 8'14"and he has run the 3rd fastest mile of all time at 3'52". Thinks he needs to concentrate on speed for the games rather than style and thinks he is getting too old to change this, especially for the Montreal Games. Recorded in 1974. Dur: 3'05".
