LIGHTNING FATAL: A man has been killed by a lightning strike near Dargaville and four of his companions are in Whangarei Hospital under observation. The fifty year old man was killed instantly - along with his horse just before one o'clock today. A Dargaville man Daniel Sterling says the electrical storm was like nothing he's ever seen. CUT

INFLATION: Figures released today by Statistics New Zealand show consumer prices rose an average of three-point-four percent for the year, mostly due to the rapidly rising cost of fuel and food. Ian Telfer reports. PKG
COURT KAHUI: The mother of the Kahui twins has told the court how she argued with her partner after coming home to find her babies severely injured. Macsyna King was giving evidence at the trial of the babies father Chris Kahui who is charged with their murder in 2006. Joy Reid has been at the High Court in Auckland. PKG
NZ-POLITICS: The National Party leader, John Key says Labour is so obsessed with attacking him, they are forgetting about the real issues. The comments follow Labour's election year congress, where Helen Clark dubbed National's brand vacuous and cabinet ministers sang a satirical song about Mr Key. GREENS-TIBET: A Green Party MP says he's been bullied by a Chinese delegation at an international meeting in South Africa, over comments he made about Tibet. Nandor Tanzcos, says during his speech at the Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting he mentioned the Chinese government had excluded free media from the Tibetan city of Lhasa. He joins us now. LIVE
POLLUTION-CHINA: China has overtaken the US as the world's "biggest polluter", according to a report to be published next month. NZ-ECONOMY: The National Party says the Government is ignoring the economy as households struggle to cope with rising prices. Consumer prices rose 3.4% in the year to the end of March, with food prices up 6%. But the Government says there is little it can do to stop the worldwide rise in food and petrol prices.
