Sullivan, Jim, 1946-, Interviewee
Smyth, Bernard T., Interviewer

An excerpt from an episode of "Campus", a programme about tertiary education in Christchurch.

Bernard Smyth interviews Jim Sullivan, Chief Archivist of the Radio New Zealand Sound Archives and also acting head of Media Studies at Christchurch Polytechnic, covering for Brian Pauling, who is on a Fullbright Scholarship overseas.

Jim Sullivan talks about broadcaster training, and the courses offered at Christchurch Polytechnic. The media studies centre is working specifically for the broadcasting industry's requirements, training people on a practical and hands-on level. The courses draw students from all over the country. There are three main courses offered, including one in radio journalism.

The interview concludes with comments about the good relationship between the Polytechnic, and Radio New Zealand and the Independent Broadcasters' Association - both of which are very supportive.
