The High Court in Christchurch has been shown graphic images of the crime scene where five members of David Bain's family were murdered in 1994. It's the first day of evidence in the retrial of Mr Bain, who denies killing his parents and three siblings. He served 12 years of a life sentence before his conviction was quashed by the Privy Council, and a retrial recommended. Matthew Peddie has been at the High Court and joins us now. LIVE

The ACC Minister has sacked the chair of the ACC board, Ross Wilson, and says further changes are likely. Nick Smith says he's not satisfied the current board has the right skills to get ACC out of financial trouble. A New Zealand researcher says he is ready to start trialling gene therapy on humans in a bid to control obesity. So far, the clinical trials have all been done on obese mice. Auckland University Professor Matthew During, who is based in Ohio, is the neuroscientist leading the team. He says he'd like to start human trials in about 12 months time. PRE-REC
