00.00 - 01.05: Theme music and announcer - "Welcome again to our Māori Programme in English. To our Māori friends we say..." "We open our programme appropriately with a tau by a Taranaki party which attended the opening of a meeting house at Takipu, near Te Karaka in Poverty Bay. This tau represents the first speech which takes the tapu off the marae. It also wipes away any misunderstandings which might have existed between hosts and guests with the assurance that the main thing the visitors have brought is their aroha, or love.
