Sir Apirana Ngata informs the gathering that the Ngarimu and 28 Māori Battalion scholarship fund for students stands at three thousand, eight hundred and fifty pounds, there is still a lot more to come in that has to be counted. The target is seven thousand five hundred pounds.

The Governor-General Sir Cyril Newall acknowledges the greetings extended to him by the Māori people of New Zealand, and pays special tribute to the school children for their performance. The Governor General also acknowledges and supports the Ngarimu scholarship and says it is a fitting memory to someone who fought with valour and honesty.

A church service conducted by the Rt.Rev. Bishop of Aotearoa, Frederick Bennett and speech by the Prime Minister Mr Peter Fraser.
