Te Kapa Haka o Ruātoki (Cultural group)

In June of 1965 the New Zealand Māori Cultural championships were held in Tauranga.

Nine teams performed, the winning team was Ruatoki from the Bay of Plenty. Each team had to perform eight facets of Maoritanga, these included : Wero, powhiri, Waiata, Waiata -a-ringa, Poi, Māori pastime, haka, speech in Māori.

Order of performance :

- Wero/Powhiri

- Entry : Taku ripene pai.

- Past time :Stick games : Ta papa mai ra e hine

- Poi : Hoki hoki tonu mai/E rere taku poi

-Waiata-a-Ringa : Anei ra nga tikanga.

- Waiata : I te ao o taku tau

- Whaikorero

- Haka : Ko te pāru, ko te pāru

- Exit : Taku ripene pai

The judges were : John Rangihau, Rawiri Borrell, Hamuera Mitchell, Mate Harawira, Lorraine Mapuna Smith and Moana Waititi.
