The Minister of Māori Affairs Mr. Koro Wetere announced recently the passage of a bill to give the Māori Language official status. This Bill was seen by Māori as a big step forward in the realisation that New Zealand isn't a monocultural nation.

Kaumatua and scholar Wiremu Parker said that it isn't just our language or education that's at stake, but personal, social and national identity.

Haare Williams speaks with Wiremu Kaa, Janet Kerr, and Monte Ohia about this Bill.
