This recording is an unedited interview by a man identified only as "George" with Taare Taipana, [probably Robert Charles Taipana?] aged 71 from Arowhenua and his wife, whose full name is not given.
His tribe is Ngāti Huirapa, sub-tribes are Ngāti Rongomai and Ngāti Mamoe.

His wife was a daughter of Hiria Kokoro Parata. His wife is Ngāti Rongomai and Ngāti Huirapa and Ngāi Tūāhuriri.

Mrs Taipana is also interviewed and speaks of her time on the Māori Women's Welfare League, and other Māori committees that she was involved with.

Mr Taipana talks about the founding of their new Anglican church, Holy Trinity. He also speaks about the wharenui, "Te Hapa O Niu Tireni".
