Māori Humour with George Tait.
Humour could be described as the interplay of remote facts. All cultures have their own brand of humour. Here in Aotearoa we have the "Crumps" and Daggs" that epitomise our own home-grown gumboot humour. In terms of the Māori people humour is an essential aspect of a culture. A hui gathering of any kind is always literally peppered with kōrero purakau, jokes and yarns, and in many cases it is a game of one-up-manship.
Kaikōrero: Eruera Taupuhi of Ngapuhi, referring to himself as a wheelbarrow.
Kaikōrero: Hōri Tait of Tuhoe tells the tale of two of his elders. He goes on to relate a humourous quote that was made at Taku Trotman's tangi, which was held at Te Tira Hou Marae, Panmure.
He also talks about getting Dean Waretini started as a entertainer.
