Te puna wai kōrero: Māori Prisoner / Young Māori Leaders -

A former inmate "Ivan" talks with Whai Ngata about Māori in
prison. He has been in prison for eight years including Mt. Eden,
Paremoremo, and other jails. He talks about learning Te Reo through
correspondence, kapa haka, and cultural values, interaction with other Māori and Peta Awatere teaching Te Reo to large numbers of prisoners in Mt Eden prison. He was the kaumatua of Mt Eden and was able to take a class without supervision.

The 1977 Young Māori Leaders conference was held at Auckland
University. Eruera Nia talks to Haare Williams about aspects of the
conference and the all Māori hui they hope to hold in Wellington next year.
