Sir Kingi Matutaera Ihaka - Kaumatua and Kuia presentations at Waitangi
on 5th Feb 1990.
- Opens with prayer and the Himene " E Ihu toku oranga".
- 200 kaumatua and kuia from the tribes of Maoridom were presented with carved tokotoko and greenstone pendants in honour of their contributions to their tribes and to Māoridom. (This was an event to mark the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi.)
The presentation ceremony was held in front of the Treaty House at Waitangi with Archdeacon Sir Kingi Matutaera Ihaka orchestrating proceedings.
