- Waiata-a-ringa: Nau mai ra te Pirimia o Aotearoa. (Rekohu Tutangata
Māori cultural group) This group performed the pohiri at the opening
of the new airport at Karewa Point, Wharekauri. The Prime Minister Robert
Muldoon officiated at the opening.
The cultural group is six months old and started under the Māori Affairs Tu-tangata programme spearheaded in the Chathams by the Rev Napi Waaka, now Cultural Officer with the Māori Affairs Department in Rotorua.

- Kaikōrero: Napi Waaka who talks about how he implemented the whole
spectrum of Māori culture to the people of Wharekauri. That is culture,
taha wairua, hinengaro, whakairo and all aspects pertaining to Māori tikanga.
