Te Ua, Te Rina

Terina Turupa te Ua passed away July 1983 in her 86th year. Terina was
the eldest daughter of the late Sir Apirana and Lady Arihia Ngata.
Terina was educated at Whareponga Primary school, then Hukarere Māori
Girls College in Napier. She married Hetekia Te Kani te Ua of Te Aitanga-
a-Mahaki, and the marriage was seen as cementing two of Te Tairawhiti's
major tribes Ngāti Porou and Te Aitanga-a-Mahaki.

Terina te Ua, was buried on 3rd July 1983 at Waihirere, on the birth date of her father the late Ta Apirana Turupa Ngata.

The 3rd July 1982 Te Puna Wai Kōrero featured an interview with Terina te Ua who spoke about her early childhood and about her father who died in 1950 after a long and distinguished Parliamentary service to Maoridom and New Zealand.
