Next weekend, Māori gay, lesbian, transgender and transvestite communities are holding an expo at Nga Whare Waatea Marae in Mangere under the theme of 'Sharing of creative, artistic and spiritual skills'
The Takataapui expo will include facilitated workshops, Māori arts and crafts, music and health to name a few, and fashion parades. The expo's supported by the NZ Aids Foundation. The term ; 'takataapui' has resurfaced comparitively recently and has won favour within Māori groups.
I'm speaking now with IAN KAIHE, Māori youth project co-ordinator with the NZ Aids Foundation, PETER POHATU and GLORIA RIHARI - first Ian.
