Barrie SLYFIELD
Alwyn Owen, 1926-, Producer
National Radio (N.Z.) 1986-2007

In 1959, a newly married Barrie Slyfield went to Kennedy Bay on the Coromandel Peninsula, lured by the attractions of a sole charge school in a coastal setting, and the cheap housing that accompanied it.

Access was at times difficult, and there was no electric power - but these disadvantages were offset by the richness of life in the little Māori community. These are among Barrie Slyfield's memories as he talks to Alwyn Owen.
