Charlie Lambert was born in 1902 in Camberwell, south-east London. He and his ten brothers and sisters accepted poverty as a way of life. Threatened with eviction and the work house, in true cockney fashion, the family survived. Charlie Lambert recalls his early life in conversation with Jack Perkins.
