s01; Invasion Canterbury '54 - a preview of Southland's Ranfurly Shield challenge against Canterbury at Lancaster Park.

Announcer Roy [Wesney?] previews the history of games between the two provinces. He interviews President of the Canterbury Rugby Football Union, Bill Dalley about prospects for the match.
Southland captain, Bill McCaw comments, as does manager Colin McKenzie,
Canterbury captain Pat Vincent is interviewed - he has just been named as captain. He runs through some of recent team changes due to injuries.
Ex-Southland player Doug Nisbitt who is organising the pre-game procession is also interviewed about preparations to welcome the 'invasion crowd' arriving by train. There will be a procession with several pipe bands, marching girls, vintage cars, decorated floats and massed brass bands. The procession will head through the city to Victoria Square.A big crowd of Southlanders is expected at the station also.
