A family tragedy as two die in a car crash south of Auckland.

New Zealand’s most famous piano - the one in the feature film, The Piano - went under the auction hammer at a charity event at Auckland’s Government House. An Auckland couple successfully bid $6,200 for the film prop which is as mute as the film’s leading lady.

Cricketeer Mark Greatbatch made a comeback when New Zealand played Australia at the BNZ One Day Centenary series at Eden Park today.

Christchurch’s Wigram airbase has just hosted its last Wings and Wheels exhibition. The airforce is closing the base down this year.
