A life history interview with James Bauchop McCormack - including his time as a conscientious objector during World War 1. James' brother Duncan was also a conscientious objector [see ID299131.]

The interview is split over four cassettes and was recorded on 01 Aug 1990, according to a date given by the interviewwer on cassette 3. James died in 1994, aged 97. The identity of the interviewer is unknown [information supplied by donor; GW 5/9/16].

The World War 1 period is covered in the second cassette. Side 2 of the fourth cassette contains a Radio New Zealand interview by John Campbell with poet Hone Tuwhare - the donor's brother-in-law [Hone was married to Jean McCormack in 1949. ]

[The donor notes that the unidentified interviewer may be James' "granddaughter or grandson's wife".GW 1/9/16]
